"The good life is one inspired by love and guided by knowledge". Bertrand Russell
My name is Jocelyn Grace Conder, and I am an aspiring anthropologist!
My name was inspired by the commune and Chateau of Josselin in Brittany, which my parents visited years before I was born. I had an opportunity to visit Josselin when I was seven on a trip to France with my parents and grandmother!
Since elementary school, I have loved anthropological topics, initially developing a passion for Egyptology. I attended all things Egypt whenever I could, including talks at the North Carolina Museum of Art, watching documentaries in my own time, and visiting museums with Egyptian collections, such as the Smithsonian, Neues Museum, and the Vatican Museum.
My love of science has expanded since, especially developing a passion for biology, chemistry, and even physics. This growth has driven my interest in anthropology toward the evolutionary or biological domain.
I also have a love of the German language that blossomed in middle school! My passion for German came purely from the joy I experienced while learning. I picked it up very quickly, moving ahead of my peers. I engaged in German activities and enrichment whenever I could! Languages are a hobby of mine as I often spend time on Duolingo picking up simple speaking and writing for other languages (including Japanese, Irish, and French). During my time at the American University of Paris, I have included a French class to gain a touch of formal training of the language from native speakers. I would love to dive deep into another language!
My personal interests include fossils, photography, crafts, role-playing games, video games, and literature.
The world is full of wonderful mysteries, and I love unlocking its secrets!
